This is just my personal opinion, but I don't really get what the fight is about. We're talking about software here, not home, land or country. It's not even commercial software, which would almost justify a bit of squabbling. We all have the right to turn and "walk away" from a project or community if we don't like something about it. I would fight to the death to protect anyone in my family; but a CMS is something I use to build web sites. Nuff said.

I'm sorry Chad, but I fail to see how anyone could have thought MOStlyCE was a 3rd party extension. You, as a core team member, removed TinyMCE from the 4.6 SVN at the beginning of January 2006. Then added the MOStlyCE component and mambot, and added the entries to SQL a couple of weeks later. All in the core. MOStlyCE did not exist as a separate project within the Mambo forge until it was removed and set up in April, by another core team leader, without discussion with the project leader or any of the team. From the time the team announced the 4.6 sneak peak and how "they" were providing a new editor, till now, the team has been testing and providing support for the editor. It has never, to my knowledge, been treated as a 3PD extension and users simply referred to the developer for support. As to the license, it is not the only code in Mambo that is not GPL2 and given that its based on TinyMCE it is required to use LGPL, so that argument doesn't hold up.

It is unfortunate that users may be confused by the name, but MOS has long been associated with Mambo (coming from "Mambo Open Source") and this has been the name of Mambo's default editor since the beginning of 2006. History cannot be rewritten.

Yes I removed TinyMCE from the core.  No debate there.  It was outdated and the team decided to make MOStlyCE the default Mambo editor and ship it with the core.  You where not on the team when those discussion occurred, but it was clear to all that were.

Even you can't believe all this BS.  I was still the Project leader when the MOStlyCE was moved out into it's own project page just further cementing what everyone already new was a separate project.  MOStlyCE had been released independent of the core many times, just not on it's own project page.  I may have been on sabbatical due to the birth of my son, but you (Mambo Foundation President) and Cem (who was acting Core Team Leader in my place) both took part in conversations where we decided to officially move it to a separate project page.  If you did not agree with this move them why have you not raised the issue earlier.  The standalone MOStlyCE project was created on the forge at the end of March (6 months ago) when I had completed work on the next major version, 3.0.  If you didn't believe MOStlyCE was a stand-alone project then it is very confusing as to why when Andphe raised the topic about MOStlyCE's discontinuation of support for Mambo and raised the topic of a new name around the editor you didn't object (http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/showt … hp?t=11772).  In fact you even offered some naming suggestions for its replacement.  Should you not have voiced your concerns about it right then and there?  That topic was started in May almost two months after the project was moved to it's own page.

I'm done commenting on this topic.  It needs no further explanation.  You have done a hostile take over of the MOStlyCE project which I created, have maintained for the last 3+ years, and was project owner of.  I didn't authorize it nor do I appreciate it.  MOStlyCE will carry on for MiaCMS only.  Whatever you call you future version it is not the real deal.  End of story from me.  Spin it as you must.

Way to go for the spin here Lynne.  We are happy to have women in open source and would love to have some on the development team if any talented female developers are so inclined.  Lets not turn this into a gender debate.

I think that announcement was clear enough.  The actual wording was "I just wanted to let everyone know that we released the new default editor, MOStlyCE, for Mambo today. It will be the default in future versions starting with 4.6.".  I developed MOStlyCE for Mambo and "we" as a team decided it should be the new default editor.  It was always a 3rd party extension, but not always released separately of the core.  The copyright header got mangled along the way in the core, but I think it was always very clear to the team that I maintained it as a separate project.  It is even released under a different license, LGPL, and has its own set of project pages on the various open source download repositories as noted earlier.

Is Daan now calling Mark a liar? Mark told the truth about that thread. I love the way so much power is ascribed to me. Do you folk not understand how open source works? I guess not. Al is so far off the planet it would be laughable if not so sad (and delusional). 

Keep it up boys. Your contempt for women in open source and disrespect for the contributions of others will be very illuminating to anyone looking for a professional CMS solution. Somehow, I don't think anyone would blame Mambo for keeping this type of thing off the Mambo forums.

I personally respect it that you working on Mambo and Mia. Why can people not be involved with more projects?

Lynne had nothing to do with that...it was all me. Yes, I'm on the moderation team, as I am here as well; (I guess some of you don't like that...but oh well) and my obligations are to the board I happen to be working on at the time. If you knew me, you would know that I am not one to lock threads or delete posts without just cause. This particular user had been leaving a trail of useless one-liner posts and was just trying to get his signature links published. After dealing with all the low life spammers and then having to wade through the recent tirades, I just may have had a touch of the "short fuse" syndrome. Again, it has nothing to do with Lynne, so please clear the incident from the mud cache.

Lynne joined the Core Team to help with html/css/validation. Nic joined to help with html/css/accessability. Nic and Lynne both wrote some html/css and Lynne worked on copyright blocks. Neither contributed any php logic/design. I wouldn't consider them developers.

Andphe wrote the language manager.
