Topic: Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0

Can I jump from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0 or should I install the patches and other versions first?  How difficult will it be?  Is it a matter of using the universal installer or just replacing directories?  I am asking because I don't want to loose the current website.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0

You can go from 4.6.5 to 4.8.1 with "Mia_Patch_4.6.5_Complete_to_4.8.1" and then from 4.8.1 to 4.9 with "Mia_Patch_4.8.1_Complete_to_4.9.0".  Each patch contains detailed instructions which if followed exactly should work just fine.  Always backup your site files and database before patching though just in case you need to restore.  That way you always have a fallback plan.

Re: Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0

Ok...I have went through all the steps of upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.8.1 and everything seem to go smoothly.  Then I continued upgrading from 4.8.1 to 4.9.0 and again everything seemed to have went smoothly.  However,  when I logged into the admin panel, I noticed some odd things:  The admin menu on the left would not display any sub-menus; I couldn't get MOStlyCE to work correctly and then the really wierd thing occured while looking at the website itself...every time I refreshed the page the "who's online" module counted me as if I where a new guest.

To avoid a head ache and since the website was not very large, I figured I would dump everything and start from 'scratch' and install 4.9.0.  Again everything went smoothly, until I logged into the admin panel...it has happened again:  The admin menu on the left will not display the sub-menus.  However, all the other problems are not present.

Here's some info that might help you to help me:

Webpage error details

Message: 'YAHOO.miacms.system' is null or not an object
Line: 511
Char: 46
Code: 0
URI: http://occhsbandboosters.org/cms/admini … index2.php

Also, this may be important...everytime (each version) I have installed Mia, I cannot get the PHP Session to become writeable.  So I installed anyway.  Is this a huge issue?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0

Yes PHP Sessions are an important component of the CMS.

What browser are you using when seeing the error above?

Re: Upgrading from 4.6.5 to 4.9.0

Sorry...the browser I am using is IE 8.0

I have just notice something else that may help.  Seems like all sub-menus are visibe on all pages except the admin home page.

Yes this is a known IE8 issue so that helps.  Will release an update soon with some minor 4.9 fixes including this one.
